We’re pleased to introduce last year’s scholarship winner Geoffrey!
As a student who attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary in Vancouver, B.C. for the whole of his secondary school life, Geoffrey was always highly involved in his community. In Grade 8, he started his community involvement by joining the Canadian Blood Services Volunteer program in addition to coaching with the Vancouver District Special Olympics Swim Team. In his later high school years, Geoffrey went on to become Editor-in-Chief of the regionally distributed Big Bang Science Magazine, the founder of the nationally acclaimed Ouroboros Platinum Dragon Boat Team, and a Director for his school’s 100 member International Baccalaureate cohort. In addition to this, Geoffrey maintained a high standard of academic achievement throughout high school by maintaining a position on the Principal’s List since Grade 9.
Now attending the University of British Columbia, Geoffrey has established the non-profit foundation titled the Youth Mental Health Association. In addition, he writes for the UBC student magazine and volunteers as a research assistant in the Life Sciences Centre regularly.
